Molecular Plant Physiology
Short description: The Molecular Plant Physiology group studies the role of sugar- and hormone balances in plant resistance towards abiotic factors like salt- and drought stress and biotic factors such as bacterial and fungal pathogens. In addition, growth processes are studied that are closely associated with crop yield (biomass), including leaf size and cell division in stem cell niches. To this means diverse techniques are used including molecular biology, genetics, genomics, physiology, biochemistry and instrumental analysis. While the molecular work is predominantly performed in Arabidopsis, also rapeseed, ryegrass, sugar beet, tobacco and tomato are employed in the different research projects.
